2019 Kentucky Heritage Applique Society Block Contest

Cottage Charm


Kit includes:  Rules, 13” square of background fabric, 3X4” fabric to be used in block

Create an image that evokes cottage charm to you; i.e., garden, cottage, pasture scene, etc.

  1. This contest is open to all KHAS members.
  2. The background fabric and the small supplied fabric must be used in the block.
  3. The background fabric is cut larger.  When finished, the applique block should be trimmed to 12 ½ X 12 ½ inches.
  4. Block must be hand or machine appliqued.
  5. Block may have embellishments.
  6. Print your name on the back of the block.  Be careful printing does not show through the surface design.
  7. Enclose a stamped, self-addressed post card or provide an e-mail address if you want to know your block arrived safely.
  8. A drawing will be made from the names of all participants.  The winner receives the blocks.
  9. Mail completed blocks by June 3, 2019, to KHAS, C/O Joanne Bennett, 3249 N Colony Ct., Edgewood, KY 41017. 
  10. Judging will be done prior to the 2019 Getaway.

 

Prizes:

All blocks received will be displayed at the 2019 Getaway.  Prizes of $10 will be awarded for Best Workmanship and for Best Interpretation of the theme.  A Viewer’s Choice contest will be conducted during the 2019 Getaway.  The winner will be awarded $15.  All awards will be announced before the conclusion of Getaway.

Kits purchased at Getaway are $5.  Kits ordered by mail are $6.  Make all checks payable to KHQS.
