2018 President's Challenge
"For the Birds"
issued by Mary Bauer

I love birds – so don’t take the title of this challenge to
mean something silly. I’ve collected bird figurines, I’ve
owned canaries, parakeets, a mynah, a parrot and hundreds
of Ostrich!
For a bit of inspiration Birds are ….
Any warm-blooded vertebrate of the class Aves,
having a body covered with feathers,
forelimbs modified into wings, scaly legs, a beak, and no teeth,
and bearing young in a hard-shelled egg.

If you like traditional piecing, try flying geese,
bluebird, crow’s foot or goosetracks. If you prefer
applique , create a beautiful rendition of your favorite
bird. Quilt artists choose whimsy, abstract, reality, or
thread painting. For additional inspiration visit
the State Fair when the fowl are on display. WOW–
what nature has created.
This challenge is for everyone!

Don’t Procrastinate – the first 20 entries received
will have a real Ostrich Egg waiting for them to take home
at Getaway 2018
